I think this is perhaps the perfect magazine.

With a perfect blend of great intersting writing that doesn't assume that those of us who have grease under our nails are all Goobers.
Filled with great stories, cool bikes, cars and everything I like. You will find everthing from profiles of drag boat racers and Hells Angels to writers artists and not just pinstripers but those who do their work on canvas, paper and skin. If you are anything like me you will dig this.

Oh and there's the girls...

Happy Pi Day

Really Swell Day

In my ongoing attempts to be as open and good a writer as Wil Wheaton I want to share that I had the most amazing day. It was unusually sunny and warm. The day was filled with the laughter of kids in the yard, sping blowing through the windows, progress on many projects and best of all spending the evening on the first of what will hopefully be many evenings like it to come.

Dennis Kucinich is Hard Core

Ok I know he has no chance really but man, Dennis is the shit. He really doesn't mess around. Considering the level of direct honesty that comes out of his mouth I really don't know how he has made it as far as he has. It is like he doesn't even want to be president what with all that talk of how the war is illegal, not apologizing for anything he has said in the past, pointing out the oil connections, wanting peace and everything . Doesn't he know how it works you have to change positions all the time to appease whoever you are speaking to and try to please everyone maybe even compromise your ethics and political beliefs here and there. Geeze

Old Folks Lounge

I noticed today that it seems the golden arches have become the hot spot for the 60 something set. The local Mcdonalds even removed the tall tables and replaced them with family size tables in the area of the dining room that was the favorite of the gray set. Everyone was having a great time sipping coffee, watching CNN and munching on Fries. Everyone knew each other including the friendly floor mopping fellow. So if you are getting up there in years and are seeking a good place to hang out head down to the golden arches ,think of it as a non alcoholic, slightly more fat saturated Cheers.

Read Wheaton

I would like to say these things but it seems unnecessary when Wil Wheaton
is doing an excellent job saying it. You should follow these links and read what he has to say. FOr that matter you should just read his blog . I wish I was half the writer he is.

The Problem is Clear

The majority of the American people don't want it . The legislative branch doesn't want it. The Iraqi people don't want it. The Iraqi government doesn't want it. I am certain the soldiers don't want it. Military generals give advice then get fired. I think the problem is clear.

In The Tub

Today I found three girls in my bathtub. A purple haired girl, an olymipic swimmer and a mermaid. Unfortunately they were 12 inches tall and made of plastic. Too bad. The two inch tall kid in the boat looked pretty happy about the situation however.

Scary Mary

I recently spent some time reading the hilarious reviews on the ChildCare action project Christian analysis of american culture minisrty movie database. These Christian wingnuts are awesome. The only movie they rate a perfect 100 is Mary Poppins . Proving that it is the gold standard in family entertainment. Well. Now what! Huh! Now What...

Malachi Ritscher

I was sent this article and felt compelled to post it here . Please click through the link and read the entire story at iheardyoumalachi.org

Did you ever burn your hand on a stove? Do you remember
the pain of it?

On Friday, November 3, a man doused his body with
gasoline and set himself afire to protest the war in
Iraq . He died quietly in flames. His name was Malachi
Ritscher.

Haven't seen it in the news? Me neither, which is kind
of strange if you ask me, considering that it happened
right here in downtown Chicago in front of hundreds of
commuters during morning rush hour. The only
conventional newspaper coverage to date was a tiny
paragraph that appeared in the Saturday edition of the
Chicago Sun-Times. Since then...nothing.

Choose Natural Time

Living in indiana I have always been proud to be one of the few to understand that it gets dar earlier in the winter. I didnt need totrick myself with the clock. I am in tune with nature. Then Mitch cam along and ruined it for us now we are just like everyone else . Here is a great PSA from the 50s (about halfway through the video)about just that. The rest is good too.

Aint Shame Grand

As we rapidly approach mid term elections the political signs are out in the yards. I have noticed an interesting trend ,at least here in the midwest. The republicans are doing everything they can to distance themselves from their own party. Without exception not a single republican candidate shows any indication that they are republican, not in television ads not in mailings and not on their yard signs. I havent seen an elephant on anything. I have also noticed that the republican candidates yard signs and mailings are all printed with that oh so democrat color, blue. Pathetic really. I for one am not fooled.

Day Against DRM

Digital Rights Management hurts everyone . When we purchase music, movies whatever we should be able to use it any way we want. DRM takes your freedom to use media the way you want away and is just generally a pain . I shouldnt have to ask some mega company for permission to put a song I purchased on more than one mp3 player or computer . The most confusing thing is that it is really all about quality and money. The record companies already take a piece of the profit from every audio and video tape sold so they dont care about that anymore . They are sooo worried that everyone will make digital copies and share them or worse (illegal and probably wrong) pirate them and make money that they cant get a piece of. They say "DRM keeps honest people honest" but really the only thing it really does it restrict honest people. People who pirate media just strip away the DRM anyway. Here are some links to celebrate the day. You can also whip out your sharpie and draw a line around those lame CDs with the weak copy protection that will be nostalgic.
