I have opinions about things. I tend to make run-on sentences, I justify that by claiming it's some beat author sort of thing. (it is not) If you are interested in what I think or are looking for something to argue with me about. This is a good place to find those things. Also, blogs are lame.

Scary Mary
I recently spent some time reading the hilarious reviews on the ChildCare action project Christian analysis of american culture minisrty movie database. These Christian wingnuts are awesome. The only movie they rate a perfect 100 is Mary Poppins . Proving that it is the gold standard in family entertainment. Well. Now what! Huh! Now What...

Malachi Ritscher
I was sent this article and felt compelled to post it here . Please click through the link and read the entire story at iheardyoumalachi.org
Did you ever burn your hand on a stove? Do you remember
the pain of it?
On Friday, November 3, a man doused his body with
gasoline and set himself afire to protest the war in
Iraq . He died quietly in flames. His name was Malachi
Ritscher.
Haven't seen it in the news? Me neither, which is kind
of strange if you ask me, considering that it happened
right here in downtown Chicago in front of hundreds of
commuters during morning rush hour. The only
conventional newspaper coverage to date was a tiny
paragraph that appeared in the Saturday edition of the
Chicago Sun-Times. Since then...nothing.

Choose Natural Time
Living in indiana I have always been proud to be one of the few to understand that it gets dar earlier in the winter. I didnt need totrick myself with the clock. I am in tune with nature. Then Mitch cam along and ruined it for us now we are just like everyone else . Here is a great PSA from the 50s (about halfway through the video)about just that. The rest is good too.

Aint Shame Grand
As we rapidly approach mid term elections the political signs are out in the yards. I have noticed an interesting trend ,at least here in the midwest. The republicans are doing everything they can to distance themselves from their own party. Without exception not a single republican candidate shows any indication that they are republican, not in television ads not in mailings and not on their yard signs. I havent seen an elephant on anything. I have also noticed that the republican candidates yard signs and mailings are all printed with that oh so democrat color, blue. Pathetic really. I for one am not fooled.

Day Against DRM
Digital Rights Management hurts everyone . When we purchase music, movies whatever we should be able to use it any way we want. DRM takes your freedom to use media the way you want away and is just generally a pain . I shouldnt have to ask some mega company for permission to put a song I purchased on more than one mp3 player or computer . The most confusing thing is that it is really all about quality and money. The record companies already take a piece of the profit from every audio and video tape sold so they dont care about that anymore . They are sooo worried that everyone will make digital copies and share them or worse (illegal and probably wrong) pirate them and make money that they cant get a piece of. They say "DRM keeps honest people honest" but really the only thing it really does it restrict honest people. People who pirate media just strip away the DRM anyway. Here are some links to celebrate the day. You can also whip out your sharpie and draw a line around those lame CDs with the weak copy protection that will be nostalgic.

Christian Terrorist
Christian terrorist attempts car-bombing in Iowa and gets charged with 2nd-degree arson. Class C felonies are punishable by imprisonment of not more than 10 years and a fine between $1000 and $10,000 under Iowa law. If he were a Muslim he would be left indefinitely in Guantanamo Bay or shipped to another country for "interrogation".

Grrr... Try to speak properly
There is no such thing as over exaggerating stop saying that. Some pseudo intellectual said it on NPR today . The word exaggerating is enough to cover everything above and beyond the truth or detail so stop now.
Boy they hate the way Cliton nailed them. or Condi Rice-Super Liar
What happens when one of the republican flunkies (FOX News) tries to slam a former Prez then not only gets themselves called out but also gets the current administration called out as well ? Lie about what he said. Here is the actual report. That pesky evidence.

Reading is fundamental (Not for our so called leaders)
"I haven't read it," Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said yesterday when asked his opinion of the once-secret April 2006 National Intelligence Estimate. His excuse -- the document was classified -- is a little shaky. Frist is a member of the "Gang of Eight," a group of top lawmakers who are briefed on the darkest secrets of American intel.

WTF? Abc Family censored Wonka
I was watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory this evening on ABC Family and something was missing. They completely removed the boat scene. What the hell is up with that? Too scary chicken decapitation issues who knows . The TV police just suck in general. The terrible edits and overdubs are really unnecessary and just plain wrong (remember the made up word scumbum in Smokey and the bandit. Perhaps we should put some clothes on paintings of nudes (yes that has been done as well). Really even when I was little I knew what they were really saying. That was bad enough but removing whole scenes that it really ridiculous. While I am going I also saw another really bad bit of censorship, I was watching Tom and Jerry with my 4 year old and every time the black lady ,who I always assumed was Tom's owner, came on the screen her voice had been overdubbed with some modern woman's voice replacing what I can only assume was considered racist or portraying black folks in a negative light. First, even if the voice of the character portrayed a stereotype or what the fuck ever it was from the 40s, damn. Maybe we should go ahead and remove all unflattering images, sounds, stereotypes or whatever from the past then we can all just be blissfully ignorant. Nevermind the big axe Tom tries to chop Jerry up with or the smashing on the head or the blowing each other up or getting run over or the,or the,or the,or the. If the cartoon or art or whatever is going to offend someone (the sponsor most likely) and that is a concern then just don't fucking show it. You know what is really offensive is the children's programming that condescends to kids or has characters that cant even speak properly (Elmo, rugrats, wonderpets) someone should censor that crap, damn give a kid some credit for not having a speech impediment or being able to think. Oh wait that's my job as a parent oh that's right I control what my kid sees not some corporate entity who isn't really interested in protecting or teaching kids but how much money they can make. OK , I got a little off track, what I wanted to say was , Damn that is some bullshit how ABC Family messed up Willy Wonka they shouldn't do that.

I love Religion
Sunday School Teacher Dismissed Because She's A Woman?
Timothy 2:11 -14 "A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner."

Questions to Ponder
1. If you suspected you were deluded, how could you find out for sure?
2. Are humans the product of a skilled or an unskilled designer?
3. Would an omnipotent being need to think in the way that people understand it? or is thinking unnecessary for a timeless, indestructible being whose preferences are the same as reality?
4. Why would God be so unclear about what book or books he authored?
5. Is conciousness anything more than a continual process of imagining, acting, observing the impact of the action, and imagining again with the new information?
6. The dictionary defines "faith" as belief without ecidence. It Defines "stupidity" as unreasoned thinking. Is belief without evidence a form of unreasoned thinking?
7. Can the impact of your actions rippling into the future be considered an immortal soul?
8. Could atheists and believers accept the same definition of God?
